The Kids program at One Community Martial Arts in New Holland Pa is designed for kids between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. While building off the curriculum for the Tiny Tiger program, this program is great for students with no Marital Arts experience all the way to advanced students. The curriculum in the Kids class is based on Traditional Moo Duk Kwan, Kickboxing, and basic grappling. In addition to the Martial Arts curriculum the kids program focuses on character development and self confidence topics are more geared to children in the class age range. These topics can range from core principles to situations that they may encounter in their everyday lives. The Kids class runs in two groups, the first group is Monday and Wednesday from 5:45 to 6:30 pm and the second group runs Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45 to 6:30 pm. Students in this class are able to earn belts all the way to 1st degree black belt, however until their 16th birthday they will be considered a junior black belt.
Unlike all other athletic activities, One Community Martial Arts in New Holland Pa focuses on teaching life lessons just as much as we focus on teaching the physical skills. Our root from the traditional teaching of Moo Duk Kwan instill that we can not become experts in an art form without focusing on mental growth along with the physical aspects as well. The Reeser Fighting System requires students to demonstrate discipline and respect both in and out of the dojo. This means paying attention in class, referring to your instructors with the correct terminology, practicing at home, and respecting your parents and elders. While other sports provide great experience for children, they also can be challenging if your child is not a starter. At One Community Martial Arts your child is always a starter! They further explained that the results of their study concluded that “On average children ages 8-12 in the United States spend 4-6 hours a day watching or using screens, and teens spend up to 9 hours.” Between 8 to 9 hours of school, homework, and family time you can see how the 4 to 6 hours a day can severally cut into your child’s childhood experience.
